The highly anticipated boxing match between YouTuber-boxer Jake Paul and legend boxer Mike Tyson has been rescheduled for Friday, November 15 at AT&T Stadium.
The contest was originally scheduled for July 20 but was postponed after Tyson suffered a concussion on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on May 26 and needed medical attention, advising him to rest and not return to training for a few days. Weeks, according to a statement from MVP, Jake Paul’s promotional company.
“During a follow-up consultation with medical professionals on Thursday regarding his recent ulcer flare-up, Tyson has been advised to undergo minimal to light training over the next few weeks and then return to full training without any restrictions,” the statement said.
Mike Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs), of Brooklyn, New York City, is the youngest heavyweight to win a world title. At age 20, he defeated Trevor Berbick by second-round TKO in Las Vegas in 1986 to win the WBC belt. “The Baddest Man on the Planet” added the WBA belt in March 1987 and became the IBF undisputed champion five months later. He made six defenses of three belts until losing in a historic upset by a 10th round KO to James “Buster” Douglas in February 1990.
In February 1992, Mike Tyson was convicted of rape and, after serving less than three years in prison, returned to the ring. Tyson, who turns 58 at the end of June, was 6-5 in two no contests to end his career.
Jake Paul (9-1, 6 KOs), from Cleveland, Ohio, but now living and training in Puerto Rico, began boxing professionally in 2020. He had six straight wins, four by stoppage, mostly against former MMA fighters. Paul, 26, lost a split decision to Tommy Fury in February 2023, but has won three straight fights, including a first-round KO of Ryan Borland in March.
The bout will be fought in eight two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves and will be sanctioned as a professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations.
